Viniyoga Classes

Viniyoga is unlike any other yoga typically found in most group yoga class settings.

You'll be encouraged to focus on maintaining your orientation toward your own breath and coordinating all of your movements along with your personal breath cycle. You'll be guided to move toward simple yet interesting sets of shape changes with your structure, starting with specific recommendations on steering the shape change of your torso via your breath. From this foundation you'll learn how to build integrated movement patterns.

You may get stretching sensations depending on the what's going on with your structure and the movement being provided, but by and large, expect to feel the work of linking the shape change of your breath to the movement of the vertebrae of your spine. As you learn to become more conscious of adjusting your own movement with your breath, you'll be cultivating a new neuromuscular embedding in your system that sets you up to enjoy your day with your spine upright and free without having to think much about your posture at all.

You may discover those parts of you that you forgot about that need to build back some tone and strength. And you'll encounter those interesting points in the class where you're feeling the challenge to your breath capacity, without necessarily having to push your system to the point of huffing and puffing. In fact, if you are wanting to move your energy toward a certain direction (elevation or pacification), you can learn how to modulate your breath to produce that while you build better movement patterns! Afterwards, you'll notice you are naturally breathing more fully and with less conscious effort.
